Projection Screen Facts

Although many people are unaware of this, the screen is an indispensable link in the presentation chain. After all, however good the projector may be in itself, the image will have to be projected in such a way that the audience can see and read it. With that in mind, the choice of projection screen is of the utmost importance. Remember, the purpose of a projection screen is twofold: reproduction of visual information without loss of image quality and distribution of the projected light towards the audience. Both aspects are necessary to get your message across.

Matching the projection screen and projector

The Lux value is determined by dividing the number of ANSI-lumen by the number of square meters of screen surface multiplied by the reflection value (gain) of the projection screen. The reflection value of the diffusion reflective screen fabric Matte White is 1.0 (gain). For the reflective screen fabric Datalux the value is 2.0 and for the retro-reflective screen fabric High Power 2.8.


In order to ensure a real impression of brightness and contrast, the following Lux values are required:
- Under low ambient light conditions: 100 Lux
- Under normal ambient light conditions: 400 Lux
